Meek Mill’s case is making progress. The Philly native has been locked up since November 2017 due to a probation violation. The case was deemed unfair and unlawful by outraged fans and has sparked national conversation about probation reform.
Earlier this week, Meek submitted a plea to be released on bail, but it was denied by Judge Genece Brinkley. According to USA Today, she dismissed the request because Meek has raised, “unmeritorious claims of impropriety in an attempt to unfairly judge shop.” Mill’s lawyers claim the judge has a personal vendetta against him and asked that the state Supreme Court let him out on bail and replace Brinkley.
Few hours ago, The Blast revealed that Philly D.A. Larry Krasner “does not oppose defendant’s application to the extent he requests release on bail pending the current proceedings, but opposes all other requested relief at this time.”
The Supreme Court will now decide on whether the Dreams and Nightmares rapper can post bail while appealing his 2-4 year sentence.
We will be following Meek’s case as it develops.
