Hip Hop Album Sales: ScHoolboy Q's "CrasH Talk" Scores Top 3 Debut

Some stiff competition prevented ScHoolboy Q’s CrasH Talk from reaching No. 1 in its first week on the Billboard 200, but the LP still managed to crack the Top 3. Q had the best-selling Hip Hop album of the week despite coming in behind chart-topper P!nk and Christian band Hillsong United in terms of overall sales.
Elsewhere, Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap spent another week in the Top 10 in the wake of his tragic death. Also, Khalid’s Free Spirit and Beyoncé’s Homecoming: The Live Albumremained in the Top 10 while Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You slipped out of the Top 25 after debuting at No. 6.
Kevin Abstract, the only other Hip Hop artist to debut on this week’s chart, hit No. 53 with his new solo album ARIZONA Baby.

ScHoolboy Q Debuts At No. 3

ScHoolboy Q secured the third highest-charting album of his career with his fifth studio effort, CrasH Talk. The project debuted at No. 3 by selling 80,630 total album equivalent units.
The Top Dawg Entertainment artist’s Blank Face LP peaked at No. 2 in 2016 and his Oxymoron album reached No. 1 in 2014. Q wasn’t able to replicate those feats due to P!nk and Hillsong United, who both managed to sell over 100,000 units this week.

Nipsey Hussle Maintains Top 10 Spot

Fans continue to support Nipsey Hussle’sVictory Lap album, allowing the late rapper to posthumously secure another week in the Top 10.
Although he dropped from No. 7 to No. 10, the slain MC still moved nearly 30,000 units. In total, Nipsey sold 29,941 copies with 4,583 of those coming from pure album sales.

Lizzo Experiences Steep Decline

Last week, Lizzo attained a new career milestone when her Cuz I Love You album debuted at No. 6. On the heels of her first Top 10 entry on the Billboard 200, the Atlantic Records artist dealt with a dramatic descent on the latest chart.
The rising pop star’s project fell to No. 26 in its second week. After racking more than 40,000 units in its debut, Cuz I Love You moved less than half of that with 17,453 total units sold.
